Where it comes from
糸守 — the name comes from “Your Name”.
The idea came from watching “Your Name” (君の名は), Makoto Shinkai's extraordinary animated film. Itomori (糸守) is the name of the town where it's set — literally “guardian of threads” (糸, thread · 守, to guard). A tribute to the film and to Japan, a country I love and have been lucky enough to visit.
In that film, musubi — the braiding of kumihimo threads — ties together time, memories and people. It's exactly the right image for the product: every thought is a thread (an idea spoken aloud, a quick note, something from a meeting); on its own it gets lost, woven with the others it becomes something bigger.
We capture a lot and remember very little — and above all we lose the connections between the things we think. Itomori keeps the raw thought exactly as it is and, at the same time, shows you the thread that ties it to everything else you've already thought.
It's built in Italy, calm and private: your data stays in the EU, no noise, no overload.
