What's new
Itomori grows every week.
Everything I've built, from day one. Many of these updates came from suggestions by people who use Itomori every day: if something's missing, tell me.

Long recordings no longer stop at thirty seconds
This is the most important fix of the month, and the bug was invisible. On a phone, after thirty seconds without touching the screen, the screen turns off — and at that moment the phone takes the microphone away from the browser. The timer kept running, the audio didn't: someone who talked for ten minutes ended up with thirty seconds. Now the screen stays on while you record. If the microphone gets interrupted anyway, by a phone call or because you open another app, Itomori tells you right away, down to the second, instead of letting you find out later; and if only part of it was saved in the end, it tells you how many seconds out of how many. Also, since September 2, pressing Stop after a long recording no longer leaves the app stuck on “recording”.
Recording in a new note no longer makes it disappear
The bug was mine: I had introduced it with the cleanup of empty notes at the end of August. A note you're recording in stays empty until you press Stop: if the screen turned off in the meantime, the cleanup mistook it for an abandoned note and deleted it, recording included. Back in the app, you'd see “Couldn't open the note.” Now a note is never touched while you're recording in it, and a network problem when you come back no longer replaces the open note with an error message. To anyone who lost a recording this way: I'm truly sorry.
No tap throws away a recording anymore
While you were recording, brushing “close” — or tapping the screen outside the window — was enough to make the recording vanish, without a question and without a trace. Now a tap outside does nothing, and “close” asks whether you want to stop and save. If you then don't need a recording, you can always delete the note: the opposite mistake, losing what you said, can't be undone.
Upload a video: Itomori takes just the audio
Recorded a meeting with Zoom, Meet or Teams and ended up with a video? Now you can upload it as it is, from “Upload file”. Itomori extracts the audio right on your device — the video isn't uploaded anywhere — and transcribes it like any other recording. It's fast even with an hour-long meeting, because the audio isn't re-encoded: it comes out exactly as it was. It works with .mp4 and .mov videos, the ones video-call apps and phones produce.
Create and Clean transcript now use your corrections
If you corrected a wrong name in the transcript — “Asia” that was really “Assiah” — and then asked for the clean transcript, the old mistake was back. And not only there: the summary, key points and everything in Create started from the original transcript, not from the text you had fixed. Now they start from your note, as it is. The original transcript stays untouched and is kept. For content created before your corrections, just press “Regenerate”.
Microphone blocked? Now Itomori tells you where to unblock it
If you had said no to the microphone permission, Itomori showed an error in English and nothing else. And looking for it among your phone's apps didn't help: Itomori isn't an installed app, and the permission belongs to the browser. Now, if the microphone is missing, it explains exactly where to turn it back on, on iPhone, on Android and on a computer. And if another app is using it, like Zoom or a call in progress, it tells you.

If you typed and left right away, the note got lost. Not anymore
This is a fix, and I'm telling you the whole story because the bug was mine. Itomori saves what you write shortly after you stop typing: but if you left the note — or switched tabs, or closed the app — in the instant right after the last letter, that last addition was lost. No errors, no warnings. Now saving is forced when you leave the note, even if you lock your phone. If you ever found a note with only its title, or shorter than you had left it, this was why.
No more empty notes in the Library
When you opened a new note and then changed your mind, that note stayed there: empty, untitled, among the others. Now if you leave without writing anything in it, it disappears on its own. A single character, a tag or a recording is enough for it to stay: when in doubt, nothing is ever deleted.

The transcript, without the “um”s
When you speak out loud you say “um”, restart the sentence, repeat “the the”. It all stayed in the transcript, and for people who record meetings or interviews it was the reason that text couldn't be sent to anyone. Inside Create there's now “Clean transcript”: it removes fillers, false starts and repetitions, adds punctuation and paragraphs, and touches nothing else. It isn't a summary and it isn't a rewrite — you should be able to recognize every sentence you said. If a sentence was muddled but understandable, it stays as it was. And it stays in the language you spoke: translating it would change its content.
Take your texts with you: txt, Markdown, Word, PDF
Until now, the only way to get text out of Itomori was copy and paste. Now under every generated piece — the clean transcript, but also the post, the email, the article — you'll find four ways to download it: txt, Markdown, Word and PDF. The PDF comes out with Itomori's paper and typefaces, not as just any blank page. It works for everything Create produces, not only transcripts.

Itomori speaks your language
Until now it always transcribed in Italian, even when the audio was in another language: one meeting with a client from abroad was enough to end up with a mess. Now there's a Language option in Settings — eleven languages, from English to Japanese — and Itomori uses it to transcribe audio and to write titles, summaries and content. It detects it on its own the first time you sign in, so almost always you don't have to do anything. The menus stay in Italian: this choice is about your notes.
Create in one language, write in another
You dictate the note in Italian as always, and ask for the post in English. Inside Create, next to the formats, there's now “Write in”: pick the language of the result and the content comes out ready, without going through a translator that flattens your tone. It starts out set to your language, so if you don't need it you won't even notice it. Summary, key points and to-dos stay in yours: those are for you to reread, not to publish.
A more capable AI, for everyone
I changed the model that writes titles, summaries, key points and content. It's faster than the previous one and, above all, it doesn't change your voice: the old one slipped into a formal register — “This morning”, “Furthermore” — and sometimes told your note in the third person, like minutes taken by a stranger. Now it stays yours. If you have a voice note from a few weeks ago, reopen it and regenerate the summary: you'll notice the difference.
How each note was born, at a glance
In the Library, next to the date, notes dictated by voice now have a small label. Written notes don't: only what's worth telling apart gets marked, otherwise the mark becomes noise on every line. You'll also find it inside each note, under the title.
The right name in transcripts
A small thing that caused a big annoyance: when you said “Itomori” out loud, the transcript wrote iTomori, Etomori, sometimes two separate words. I gave the transcriber a small vocabulary and now it spells it right. It works in every language.

INK: calligraphy paper, black ink
A second outfit for Itomori, for those who want it sharper. A white background with the faintest texture of Japanese practice paper, solid black for the text, and a single color: the vermilion of seal stamps. It also has a night version — black paper and white ink, the exact negative. You'll find it in Settings, under Appearance: choose the family, and the little day/night button keeps working as always. The usual theme stays right where it was.
The dark theme is finally readable
While building INK I found a bug that had been there for months: in the dark theme some panels stayed light — the sign-in fields were almost unreadable, grey text on grey. There were twenty-seven spots scattered across the app. Now they follow the theme like everything else. If the night theme bothered you and you couldn't say why, this was it.

Work in progress: the email that becomes a note
Ideas often come while you have your inbox open, not Itomori. And they almost always end up in an email to yourself, which then gets lost among the others. I'm building the shortcut: you send an email — or forward that newsletter you wanted to keep — and you find it here, already a note. It isn't open to everyone yet because I'm testing it properly before telling you it works. But it's one of those things that, once you've tried it, you never go back.
The blog gets a face
Every article now has its own illustration, drawn for it: ink on paper, like everything else in here. And there's a new read — why I like Obsidian but made Itomori, with a guide to bringing your notes along. More are coming in the next few weeks.

The same tag links notes
A user pointed it out to me: they had put the same label on two notes expecting to see them linked, and nothing happened. They were right. Now two notes with the same tag are linked, period — and these links are stronger than the automatic ones: they never disappear, because you decided them.
Filter by tag in the Library
A row of labels above your notes: click one and you see only that group. The quickest way to find everything that belongs to a project, a client, an idea.
A graph you can actually look at
Connections, rethought: the page now scrolls like all the others, you choose how dense you want the web (essential, balanced, all), and you zoom with the buttons. The links you decided stand out at a glance from the ones Itomori found.
You land where you meant to go
If you open a link to an Itomori page without being signed in, after logging in you end up right there — no longer on the dashboard, wondering where the page you were looking for went.

Install the app whenever you want
Installing Itomori as an app (an icon on your phone, tablet and computer) now has a permanent home: Settings → “Use Itomori as an app”, with instructions for every device.
“Upload file” gets smart
One button for everything: give it audio and it transcribes it, give it a text file and it becomes a note right away. Inside an open note, the content is added after what's already there.
Import from Word (.docx)
A user asked for it: no sooner said than done. Your Word documents become notes, with title and paragraphs in place — both from the Upload file button and from bulk import in the Library.
Create remembers
Every generated format (post, email, article, outline) now stays saved under its button: you switch from one to another without losing anything, and viewing it again doesn't use up generations. It's only rewritten with “Regenerate”.
Automatic title, right away
A voice note opens with its title already there, generated by the AI during transcription. If you wrote the title yourself, it's left alone.

Unlimited notes, forever 🎉
The note limit is gone from the free plan. A second brain only works if you trust it enough to put everything in it — and you don't trust a place you know you'll have to empty. So: unlimited, free, forever.
Import from Obsidian and Markdown
Bring in the notes you already have: .md and .txt files, or an entire Obsidian vault in one click — with titles and tags from the frontmatter. And Itomori links them on its own to the ideas you already have.
Guided first launch
The first time you sign in, no menus: a microphone and a question. Talk through an idea for 30 seconds, and Itomori takes care of the rest. The fastest way to understand what the product does is to use it.
Smoother Google sign-in
A Google sign-in screen with the Itomori name, and straight into the app with no wasted steps.
